What Shareroom keeps, why, and for how long — in plain words.

Draft, pending legal review · Last updated 29 October 2026

The short version

  • We keep your room content so people you share with can see it.
  • No ads. We don’t sell your data.
  • Free tools don’t upload what you paste.

What we keep

The content of your rooms: documents, the canvas, comments, attachments and history. We need it to show the room to the people you share it with.

The name you use in a room. Guests get a random name like “Teal Fox”.

If you sign in, your name and email address from GitHub or Google, and which of them you used. Nothing else from those accounts.

What we don’t do

We don’t show ads and we don’t sell your data.

The free tools — JSON formatter, Text diff and Markdown editor — run in your browser. What you paste there isn’t sent to us unless you choose to share it in a room.

How long we keep it

Guest rooms close 7 days after their last change. Rooms that belong to an account close 90 days after their last change. These periods are proposals and may change before release.

Private and link-shared rooms are never published, listed or indexed, and their link previews show no title or content. A room owner can freeze a read-only copy of a room. Only people with the copy’s link can open it, and search engines are told not to list it. A signed-in owner whose account is at least 14 days old may choose to let search engines list a copy.

Your choices

Export a room from its menu at any time.

Download your account data, or delete your account together with the rooms you own, from Account settings.
